Shut the fuck up, anyone who espouses this sort of belief. (The blog I’ve linked is merely an example of the shit I’ve been seeing today on the internets.) You have every right to be upset/anxious/distressed about not getting into Yale, even while acting as entitled as you seem. But to perpetuate the myth that students of color have an easier time getting into Yale is dangerous and stupid. The fact that you can get rejected from Yale has nothing to do with your whiteness. It has to do with the fact that a 7% admissions rate means that even the most intelligent, talented, and qualified kids will fall through the cracks. Being upset about not getting into a certain college is not an excuse to act as though your white privilege does not exist. News flash: it does. It always will.

are an awesome Latin@ couple who are masters of Stiles, one of Yale’s residential colleges. Today they told me that they delivered 500 tacos to the mayor of East Haven in retaliation to his saying that he’d help the Latino community by eating tacos for dinner. I love witty Latin@ academics. I seriously want to be these two when I grow up!
